Episode Transcript

God instructs Israel to make another icon for the Tabernacle. There is to be a Table of Showbread. This table is constructed like the Ark, and all its dishes, pans, and jars are made of pure gold. On this table, drink offerings were to be poured, and there was always to be bread sitting on the table. God did not desire merely to rule over His people or have a people blindly worshipping or sacrificing to Him. He is not like the gods people have invented for themselves. God desires communion with His people. He wants a people who will not merely be His subjects but who eat and drink at His table with Him. In the Old Testament, this communion is symbolic. With the advent of Jesus, this communion is literal. Jesus prepared a communion table with His disciples. He became the bread and drink offering. He invites us to sit at His table each time we have communion together. God is not only for us, He is with us.
